Install the GNOME keyboard shortcut setter in xmonad or other WM/DE?

I was googling around trying to find a way to get my keys for volume and brightness working properly, and almost everything says GNOME has a system-wide utility that makes this a breeze. Is it possible to install this utility in xmonad or another WM/DE? Is it even worth it or are so many deps pulled in that I should seek other methods?

No, you can't. I'm pretty sure it depends on metacity. You could try xbindkeys, though.

Re: Install the GNOME keyboard shortcut setter in xmonad or other WM/DE?

I'm using gnome + xmonad, and I can use the gnome keyboard shortcut thing with xmonad. I think it may be part of gnome-settings-daemon, though I am not too sure.

However, if you are running xmonad standalone, it would probably be more efficient to use xbindkeys or set the keybindings in the xmonad.hs itself. Both are possible.
