Trying to do a minimal XFCE4.6...

Okay, here is what I want:

I want XFWM4 to be used like I use Openbox. I want the Window manager, a right-click menu, and the configuration gui that sets the WM theme and turns on compositing, etc.

So, do I need xfdesktop or can I just use feh and still have my right-click menu? And what about the menu editor that I heard we were getting in this version?

As of right now, when I right-click on the desktop, I have a desktop menu with create launcher, etc, and then my main menu, but I only want the main menu. I want a blank desktop except for the background image.

What packages do I absolutely need to accomplish this?

EDIT: And what the heck happened to my XFCE-panel? Now if I have one window open, it takes up the whole taskbar. It used to only use a little bit if there was only one window. Is this the way xfce4.6 is going to be?

What extras do you need from XFCE that Openbox does not have? You can still use Openbox within XFCE and do without xfwm smile. That would probably the easiest solution wink.

XFCE stuff pulls in a lot of libraries (not to be compared to Gnome or KDE's, but still), so if you really want to replicate an Openbox setup, there are other possibilities.

Well, I want to use xfwm4 as more of a standalone rather than the whole DE.

afaik the right-click menu is a xfwm thing. no need to "let it control the desktop"
