KDE 4.2's Kate is still not fixed!!!!

Open multiple documents in Kate. Make sure each document contains for example the word "it". Press control+F in one ducment. Search for "it". It highlights "it". Press F3. It highlights the next "it". Now click on another open document. Press F3. IT DOESN'T HIGHLIGHT "IT" AT ALL!!!!! That's a friggin bug! In KDE 3.5, this works properly. In NO VERSION of KDE 4 it works, and it RUINS EVERYTHING, because usually when using Kate, you need to search for the same function name or other term in the different documents you have open with F3.

Why do the KDE guys FUCK UP kate, why can't I run Kate 3.5 in KDE 4.2, why are they so stubborn to fix this?

Kate was GOOD, in KDE 3.x, now they screwed it and nobody seems to care! Is open source being screwed up because it isn't only used by developers anymore and the target audience now only cares about things like iTunes and stuff?

Instead of upgrading KDE 4.2's search (that is, make it possible to search in all open files, like Visual Studio can), they downgraded it, by not even making the normal search function work properly.

And their stupid bar at the bottom in the screen instead of normal search dialog is ridicioulous, you can't even see immediatly if "case sensitive" is on or not (you have to click on something with the mouse first to see that), this case sensitive setting can also vary in each open document, and there's no "whole word only" option.

If I could use Kate 3.5 in KDE 4.2, I'd be quite happy, is it possible somehow?

I installed KDE 3.5 from kdemod. I do like KDE 4's visuals tho. I'd like best from both worlds, that is, KDE 4's visuals, with KDE 3.5's software...

Re: KDE 4.2's Kate is still not fixed!!!!

This rant has absolutely nothing to do with Arch. Please take it up with the people who are able to fix it. Better still, fix it yourself and submit a patch.

Any further posts in this thread should address the only acceptable line in the original post i.e.

Additional rants, or anti-rants, or opinions about rants, or justifications of rants, will result in this thread being closed.

kdemod3 works too, but it would be stupid to install just for some search glitch (open a bug upstream instead of ranting here or use vim)

You can easily use apps from KDE3 in KDE4. They'd just use KDE3 themes - can't have everything.
