I just installed Scribus under KDE4 and it looks ugly as hell. Fonts look like in a GTK1 app
I have qt3 installed but no dice.. Am I missing something?

This won't answer your question directly, but have you tried scribus-svn from AUR? It uses QT4.

Thanks for answering. No, I have not tried it, assuming it would be unstable (the scribus site mentions the port, but I thought it was a work in progress).
Will try, but I would definitely also want a way to make a qt3 app look better.

Replying to myself: just found a tip on the forums to use qt3config, and indeed, the fonts look a lot better now.....
Once again the Arch forums prove to be a valuable source.
Thanks all!

Could you give some details on what you did with the qt3config to make the fonts look better in Scribus?

Hmm, long time ago, but I think I changed the font to DejaVu Sans 9, and the GUI style to Platinum. Just play around with it, there's not so many options really.

Thanks Xinix. The reason I asked for the details was that when I started qt3config in the terminal (/opt/qt/bin/qt3config), the fonts were as readable on the Qtfonfiguration GUI as they were in Scribus. In other words, it was as messy as Scribus, and couldn't read the text in the Qtfonfiguration GUI. However, that being said, I tried to guess where the Platinum and DejaVu options were based on your recommendation, applied them, saved the change, and restarted qt3config, and now everything is fine (including Scribus).
