Anyone else notice glitches in the panel and all other Plasma widgets?
(Yes, I use Nvidia drivers, but all seemed to work fine before I installed Gnome )

Post xorg.conf? Try downgrading to NVIDIA driver 177-series? Wait for 180.25 or 180.27 to appear in the repos, which offer much better KDE 4.2 support?

I have nvidia and the same problem. Apparently this is a bug in Qt, and the fix will be in Qt 4.5.

Maybe is this bug:

is a bug with "MigrationHeuristic greedy" option in xorg.conf. If you disable this option, systray icons are shown correctly but compositing is
much slower.

i stll have that issue too. but until i updated to 4.2 yesterday, i also used to get wierd lines, like left over window borders or something going around my screen from time to time until i moved the mouse over them, only when i had gtk apps open. that one seems to be gone now, so i can deal with teh systray thing a little longer until its resolved with said update

as mentioned above, this is a qt bug and is already solved in the 4.5 branch

Thanks a lot for the fast replies. Too bad 4.2 is still not yet quite there...

I was at a kde release party in zurich and aaron seigo had a talk and he said that they sent patches for tray ugliness to Qt and GTK and it should be fixed in the next releases. let's hope that the tray will get better soon!
