Http/Ftp Installation Problem

When I try to setup my wireless connection (wlan0), I try to select the DHCP option and it says failed to setup DHCP.  So I select the other option and fill in every option except the HTTP proxy and FTP proxy.  That fails to work also.

Have you read network configuration wiki?
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wireless_Setup

Yeah, my card is being detected and everything. It already is supported by Linux, it's just not working for some reason.
Plus i think that guide is for setting up a wireless connection after Arch has been installed.

Re: Http/Ftp Installation Problem

I have a wireless network(rt2870) as well, but it was not supported by the kernel, so I had to work around in order to FTP install. I fist installed the package that I created, and loaded my module, and later used ifconfig and wpa_supplicant to connect to a network, only then could I use mirrors installing arch, without dhcp. I used the wiki to fix the network connection. Like this:

ifconfig ra0 up or dhcpcd ra0
wpa_supplicant -Dwext -ira0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf

Re: Http/Ftp Installation Problem

i somehow got it working. i tried to install again, and it worked.
but there was something wrong when i tried to find the packages.
it couldn't connect.
and i tried to install anyway, but i didn't know what my drive was called so i couldn't install it.
i wish the installer was easier to use.

Re: Http/Ftp Installation Problem

Use a ethernet line to install.  Then configure your wireless.

Re: Http/Ftp Installation Problem

I can't use an ethernet.
But if worse comes to worse can I do a core install then install the packages later?

Re: Http/Ftp Installation Problem

Of course you can, that's what the images are for. smile The only disadvantage you'll have is that you'll have to download quite a chunk of updates after installing the base system.

Re: Http/Ftp Installation Problem

Thanks!
I'll wait for the new update and in the meantime get all these installation problems fixed.
Hopefully once all this is worked out I will enjoy Arch more than Ubuntu.
