we've all got them, hiding in our boxes, lurking, snickering at us out of the corner of our eyes.
and every now and again, they leap out and strike... but you never see the gremlins themselves, just the chaos they leave behind.
you know what i'm talking about... those errors that seem to have no source whatsoever. the bizarre interactions of two seemingly unrelated processes that, like matter and anti-matter, somehow meet, tangle, make love, and give birth to an apocalyptic beast-child. or at least a kernel oops.
so, inspired by dav7's recent rather interesting series of events, this is a thread in which to post your mysteries, your head-scratchers, your "why the bloody hell did that happens?" in short, a place to rant about the goddamn gremlins.
perhaps, if we are diligent enough in cataloging the exploits of the mischievous little fsckers, we might even be able root out the occasional local infestation.
so, without further ado, i'll start populating the sightings database with my own:
Y.A.L.F.A.P. -- Yet Another Laptop's eFfing ACPI Problems
my gremlins are *particularly* cheeky... they're *still* at, several kernel versions later, with no respite.

[23:00:16] dr_kludge | i want to invent an olfactory human-computer interface, integrate it into the web standards, then produce my own forked browser.
[23:00:32] dr_kludge | can you guess what i'd call it?
[23:01:16] dr_kludge | nosilla.
[23:01:32] dr_kludge | i really should be going to bed. i'm giggling madly about that.

I've got me a farm of gremlins in my home , that is: "gizmo", "mogwai", "stripe" and planned "earl". These are feisty lill' b-tards!
Two of them recently had some mental issues (mb's going to the "loco" point because of old age, exploitation, leaking caps etc.). They've received a nice portion of steroids in form of newer mbs, cpus and one used (but rather fine) gpu. Still one refused to cooperate when I was upgrading bios and decided to go "coma". But I found him a nice tub filled with water and cozy basement to form a cocoon
. So… he's/it's alive! Behold!
The "stripe" is the cute one. He's msi wind u100. I'm taking him out from time to time to unleash some terror flavored mayhem and damage outside (I don't ask them to love me… their fear is enough ).
BTW. What a pretty… yyy… baby *something* in your av!
It's not the best thing when they call you a "member" you know…
