I've updated xinitrc and while I still have the same problem, I'm sure you've saved me a headache in the future.

Hmm, is hal running and configured for X?, the latest X needs it, (see http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xor … otplugging).
Also, try removing everything except "exec /usr/bin/startkde" from .xinitrc

Also remove the typ1 and record module from your xorg.conf file. As the error tells you, they don't exist.

Cleaning up xinitrc doesn't seem to help. Removing type1 and record gives me another error message. It seems to indicate that HAL is a problem. Though the daemon is running I may have a misconfiguration.

What happens if you comment these lines in xorg.conf?
#Section "ServerFlags"
# Option "AllowMouseOpenFail" "true"
# Option "AutoAddDevices" "False"
#EndSection

That does elimate the NewInputDeviceErrors but I still have the MTRR error. Very strange that xfce works, and that root can startx. Xfce doesn't use the hal or dbus does it? Maybe I'm having issues creating the socket for dbus or hal as normal user. I'm about to head to class but I"ll check the forums later tonite. If I can quickly finish my lab I'll see if I can get some more troubleshooting done.
Thanks so much for the help.

Hmm... or maybe it's a groups problem. Look into that, see what groups your users are in.

Fixed... in the end it was a rather simple problem and I'm sorry to wasted your time on such a simple thing. The new users I was creating had an custom .xinitrc in their directories that was blank. I'm a little fuzzy on which method copied the skel contents and which did not. Thanks to all.
