Got arch up and running 2 days ago with XFCE. Whenever I open the terminal, the window comes up, but the cursor is never ready for any input. The system does not freeze, just the new terminal window shows a black screen with a cursor, nothing else. Any ideas?
EDIT: This also happens under default KDE installation.

what terminal are you trying to run? is it installed? in your path?
[23:00:16] dr_kludge | i want to invent an olfactory human-computer interface, integrate it into the web standards, then produce my own forked browser.
[23:00:32] dr_kludge | can you guess what i'd call it?

Well, I am trying to run the default installed on in XFCE (not really sure)
The command for the launcher is the following:
exo-open --launch Terminal
EDIT:
Looked into it further, seems it's a problem with xterm. when I add xterm to my .xinitrc file to test with X, i get the following error:
xterm: Error 32, errno 2: No such file or directory
Reason: get_pty: not enough ptys
this pty issue seems to be the culprit, just not sure how to fix it yet.

solved... turns out I had my /dev/pty mount commented out in fstab. Thanks.
