I currently have GNOME installed on my Archlinux desktop machine. If you use GMail and have ever had to use the mouse wheel to scroll through a long email conversation you might notice that the window scrolls very slow (very choppy). According to a thread I found via google search, nvidia was aware of this problem and they have said that a future release will fix it. That was mid-2008. I'm wondering if the nvidia package in archlinux includes this fix? Obviously not because I'm still having issues. Is there any way to fix this?

Nvidia 180.22 drivers fixed this for me, and many others on the nvnews forums.

How do I find out what version of NVIDIA drivers I have installed? I installed the nvidia package, so I'm not sure what that gave me.

When you run the nvidia-settings utility, there should be a line that says Driver Version.
If it's 180.22 or higher, consider filing a bug report and/or posting on the nvnews forums (which are official).
Instructions for filing bug reports are stickied on that forum.

Interesting, after installing a few font packages through pacman it seems to scroll smoothly now. Not sure what was up with that. Thanks for all of your help, sorry for the waste of time.
