Arch IS fast!

After recent update kernel started booting twice as fast... at least. What happened? (not that I'm complaining...)

Re: Arch IS fast!

I believe some fastboot patches were merged, yet not in 2.6.28 but .29.

Re: Arch IS fast!

Nope, nothing is faster with 2.6.28.3. My bootchart log gives me 21s, which is exactly the same as it was with the older versions of the kernel. Are you sure that you're not using SDD?

Re: Arch IS fast!

Are you using reiserfs Dheart? I noticed a boot speed improvement when the new reiserfsprogs came out, however I don't know whether that's good or bad. The first time it took a bit to check the drive, now it just zooms through it. I hope it's doing a proper check?

Re: Arch IS fast!

Yes, I'm using reiserfs on both of my machines. So that's behind the speed improvement.
