mysql ssl not working

Hi,

I have setup a mysql server with ssl on my vServer.

It works to log in with ssl from the vServer.
It works to log in with ssl from a ubuntu computer of a friend.
It works to log in from my arch64 system, but not with ssl.

I do:

mysql -u username -p --host=myhost --port=3307 --secure-auth --ssl --ssl-cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA

and I can log in. But \s tells me, that ssl is not in use.

since the ssl parameters works, ssl should be enabled in this client.

Does it have to do with 64Bit?

What could be wrong?
Is there a way I can get more verbose logging?
