Re: kde 4 crashes on intel 865G graphics

I can confirm this problem. I think the intel driver is just broken atm. Even without those effects it is slow as hell.

Re: kde 4 crashes on intel 865G graphics

I can confirm this on a Intel 855GM card. Though KDE4 don't feel slow (v4.1.96).

I'm using latest libdrm (v2.4.4) and latest xf86-video-intel (v2.6.0) driver.

Arch - It's something refreshing

Re: kde 4 crashes on intel 865G graphics

I have an intel 865G integrated graphics card..and kde4 is so painfully slow for me as well, even without affects. Do you guys know if it is indeed the intel driver? Or perhaps my computer? I have 512mb of ram..which I think would be enough. I have a Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz as well..and everything is just so slow for me. In windows, unfortunatly, it isn't.

Re: kde 4 crashes on intel 865G graphics

I guess i865 is not made for running composite WMs (I don't know how it works with compiz, but with KDE4 it's a no go). You'd better stick to no compositing or get an nvidia/ati low-end discrete card. They're cheap and the majority supports compositing well.

In love I believe and in Linux I trust

Re: kde 4 crashes on intel 865G graphics

stelarmoon : it works more normal with the vesa driver or if you add ONE of the following to section device in xorg.conf :

Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"
Option "ExaNoComposite" "false"
Option "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy"
Option "XaaNoPixmapCache"
Option "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps" "1"
Option "DRI" "true"
Option "AccelMethod" "XAA

thanks to mksoft from whatsup forum for the solution

i am stuck now with normal performance but still no effects
