LOTS of "path/to/file exists in filesystem" when installing xorg

Hi, during the installation of xorg (newly installed arch), I see lots of file exists in filesystem errors...:/
How do I get through this? It's a very long list...I can't delete it manually one by one...:(

Using the workaround about klibc doesn't help as well sad

no offense, but if that isn't the problem maybe you should post the output you get somewhere in a pastebin and link to it so we can actually see what the problem is ?

Check which package owns the offending files with "pacman -Qo".

I can't I don't have a DE yet on my netbook...I'm using my desktop to post here...:( Sorry

here is what I get when installing lxde as well, maybe this could help a bit:

bzip2: /usr/share/man/man1/bzip2recover.1.gz exists in filesystem

The format of the errors are like this...Only the package and the filename changes...:(

Sorry for such little info...If only I have a DE on my netbook...It's newly installed

It may be because of what you said in the other thread...that you copied your old pacman lib to new installation... I think you may have to reinstall..

No, I'm already using the default path (updated) for the DBPath...I'm only using a custom pacman pkg cache now...:(

This was also a clean install...:(

Are all of the errors from /usr/share/man/*?

If it's only the man pages, then you can safely force install with pacman -Sf man. This isn't normally a good idea, but if that's your only conflict it should be fine.

pacman -Sf man

What do you mean with man? Is it just an example?

Re: LOTS of "path/to/file exists in filesystem" when installing xorg

They're the 'manual pages'. This is how huge numbers of programs store their documentation. For instance, if you type 'man echo' in a terminal, it will give you an overview of what the command echo is and does. Since the man pages are nonessential for your system to run, you don't need to be worried about 'exists in filesystem' errors this time. Just don't get in the habit of using the -f switch every time you see these errors; Usually they need your attention.

Thanks for the info..If only it is easy to delete them one by one, I'll spare some time to delete them...But it shows hundreds of them which is confusing... roll:)
