sound of a film played by another computer

I was just wondering if there is such a possibility I will describe in a moment. Let's assume I have two computers in my room. The loudspeakers are connected to one of them by I want to watch a film on the other one (let's say better monitor). Is it possible to transfer the sound from the film to the second machine equipped with the loudspeakers while watching the film on the PC with better display?

Re: sound of a film played by another computer

The easiest way would be to simply stream the entire movie over to the other pc and have it running there as well i guess.
How you do that depends on what program you use to view the movie, Kaffeine would probably be the easiest.

It might be possible with pulseaudio.

[not-so-useful-answer]
i've seen a bunch of threads trying to solve this... it always starts with pulseaudio, vlc, or mpd but it always ends in too much lag for it to be useful.
