[SOLVED]x86_64 Installer CD freezes

Hello Everyone.

Im am about to install Arch for the first time, but already it seems Ive hit an issue.

My hardware is as follows:

AMD Athlon 7750+ X2
2GB Ram
Nvidia 9800GT

My issue is that whenever I select the top option from the GRUB menu on the disc to begin installation, I freeze at the following message:

SLUB: Genslabs=12, HWalign=64, Order=0-1, MinObjects=4, CPUs=4, Nodes=1

It just will not go any further.

Also, I find it strange that Arch is detecting 4 CPU's when I have a dual core cpu.

I am in the process of downloading another CD image, just incase my first image was borked in some way.

Can anyone help with this issue?

Thanks

Ok, I also tried with the i686 version and the same happens.

I booted into the CD fine on the laptop I am posting from, it just doesnt seem to like my PC.

The version I am using is the Core 2008.06 release.

maybe it's an acpi problem?  i have a computer that refused to boot because of that.  try booting with the acpi=off option, just a guess though.
