Thinkpad R61 screen is garbled, no keyboard or mouse response.

This has happened twice to me. Each time, the display gets glitchy over a few seconds, then everything stops. I lose keyboard and mouse control, but music continues to play and the wifi connection is not severed.

Ctrl-Alt-Delete, Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, Alt-SysRq-B and trying to switch to a virtual console do nothing. I need to turn off power manually, with the power button.

I suppose it is the fault of the Nvidia drivers, but I'm not quite sure. I have the 180.22 version installed, and this particular release seem to cause many different problems to people's hardware.
