Re: [SOLVED] Disable and Clear Gnome-MPlayer History

Unless I'm missing something, I believe that the history is stored in ~/.recently-used.xbel along with everything else that uses the freedesktop.org specification. I think that the simplest solution that won't kill the history of everything else would be to write a launcher script.

I DONT want a history in anything except firefox where its actually useful.

Would it be better if I write protect that file so that no app stores history ?

Edit: I erazed and write protected recently-used.xbel and recently-used files and write protected them. Still Gnome MPlayer shows history.

Re: [SOLVED] Disable and Clear Gnome-MPlayer History

I'm not 100% that's the only place info is stored, but I could find it anywhere else.

The only solution that I saw when looking into this is to delete the file and create a directory of the same name. I read that a lot of errors will appear on the console, but it works.

Yeah, but I just write protected and made files read-only.

But the history is STILL not deleted sad

The files are fully empty. HOW can this happen ?

Edit:

Mousepad, the editor used for opening the files, itself is one of the files' users. So it won't permit me to eraze the file.
Instead, I don't write protect but READ protect the file.

Now, OpenOffice, Mousepad, Gnome MPlayer and almost ALL other software can't have history.

Problem SOLVED. big_smile:D:D
