You will need the PC version: either the 3 CD set, the single DVD Collector's Edition, or a normal installed copy of the game, such as you'd download via Steam.
You will need a valid and unique CD key in any case. The Mac version's install disc has not been tested, and the XBox 360 version will not work.

It's nice to see another popular game ported to Linux, but I thought that game sucked. I saw a friend playing it and rented it myself (beating it in a night).

Downloading the Demo for Linux right now..
It didn't really sell for Win and I don't think it will for linux.

My computer is not fast enough for the game, but the first part (included in the demo) was really cool and the physics puzzles were fun as well as the spirit mode. I don't remember much of the rest of the game, saw and played it a bit at a friend's.

I'd rather stick with tremulous xD

Still an ArchLinux lover though.

Bought it and I had trouble to get it to run on my brother's computer with Ubuntu 64 bit. (Sound, mouse pointer disappearing in menu.) Works on Windows, though and it is a lot of fun.

I wish. I tried it with Pulseaudio, Alsa, OSS, via SDL + Alsa, with a different libsdl and I only could get it to bad from very bad. (The menu music was always weirdly distorted.) Add the mouse pointer disappearing after changing the resolution (and sometimes plain crashes) and you're better off just using Windows. (It works on wine, too, but transparency doesn't work too well. But at least sound is OK...) This is an audigy 2 and a HD3870 on 8.10 x64, you might be better off with Nvidia and 32 bit. The game is worth it in any case.
