There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

Well, not sure if you need a GUI, but you might try 'feh'.

feh is an image viewer.

canistra, do you mean non-gnome and non-kde? Or do you want TK, ncurses, etc? heh... There's always mc.

Re: Lightweight Graphical Non Gtk and Qt File Manager

Almost all QT apps will depend on kdelibs, but there are many, many GTK apps that don't depend on GNOME libs. I don't see what's wrong about installing *one* package (GTK) to run a plethora of fantastic, minimalistic programs.

Since you have gtk2 for tuxcmd anyway, you can probably use GQview for your images.

Re: Lightweight Graphical Non Gtk and Qt File Manager

Here's what I do, I like it and you might too:

I manage files with bash (I want to move to zsh one day). A while ago I was looking for a file manager with good keyboard support - it turns out the best one is really the command-line.

When I'm looking for an image though, it's useful to have a thumbnail view of the files. That's when I call "feh -t /dir/with/images":  feh creates a clickable thumbnail gallery.

So:
File Manager: bash / zsh
Image Viewer: feh

Re: Lightweight Graphical Non Gtk and Qt File Manager

thunar is probably the best file manager, at least imo. And I love mirage as an image viewer, it's very lightweight yet still has all the features I want. gpicview is the Microsoft Picture Viewer (supplied with Windows) equivalent
