Network Audio

i am setting up my house to be able to play audio through different rooms with mpd and control it via my n810. i am not sure what audio server i should use.

ideally i would like to be able to start playing something through mpd on the main machine, ssh into the main machine, and run a command/script to turn on/off a room.

i know pulse can do it but i didnt know if there was something that was more stable or better suited to what i would like to do.

if you guys have any recommendations for how to set this up or a good howto to get me started i would really appreciate it.

thanks a lot.

Re: Network Audio

pulseaudio is perfectly suited for this. It has many GUI configuration tools so you can manage your rooms. It's enough stable, by the way it is installed by default on Ubuntu current LTS
