kernel 2.6.28 1 mounting segfaults

Hello, after system update I'm having some serious-looking problems,
I'm surprised I'm the only one, am I making some stupid mistake?

here is my pacman log:

on bootscreen I see "/bin/mount -a -t $NETFS" has failed..

I checked what didn't mount, and it was:

UUID=45bc58dc-01bf-47c5-bd16-db271e000049 /boot ext2 defaults 0 1

after I comment it in fstab, the boot procedure continues without error.. two encrypted lvm ext3 drives are mounted normally..

the next problem is with usb disk:

the mount attempt ends with segfault, if I try it again, mount freezes, the filesystem on the disk is fat.
after this the system detects only this usb disconnect, and it is unable to detect plugging in of any new usb device.. mouse is working if its plugged in before trying to mount.
also, shutdown or reboot doesn't work..

thank you for your time.

Re: kernel 2.6.28 1 mounting segfaults

I did the same upgrade and I have the same Problem, if I try to mount a vfat volume.

/etc/fstab:

/dev/sdb1 /media/sdb1 vfat users,gid=100,rw,umask=002 0 0

Re: kernel 2.6.28 1 mounting segfaults

I've delt with this by reverting to older .27 kernel by using a package from http://schlunix.org/archlinux/
and I've added kernel26 to ignorepkg line in pacman.conf..

not a good solution for everyone, but its fine for me.
you could probbably get it working by building your own kernel..

I'll get around to debugging this if it keeps persisting in new packages.

this seems to be rare, possibly its hardware related.
I have asus P5PL2 mainboard.

Re: kernel 2.6.28 1 mounting segfaults

Here this problem occurs with the packages kernel26 2.6.28.2-1 and 2.6.28.3-1.
2.6.28.1-1 works fine.

Re: kernel 2.6.28 1 mounting segfaults

hi, I have simmilar problem, after kernel update arch is not mounting my pendrives,
I've also lost access to my windows partition

I believe this must be something with configs or authorization as I'm able to mount pendrive
and windows partition from root account

any ideas?

Regards,
Lukasz
