VLC fullscreen problem

Hello,
I use VLC to watch videos on my eeePC. I have a up-to-date Arch install with kdemod 4.1.
The player works quite well, but I don't have (and never did) a fullscreen control (i.e. a progress bar when the video is on fullscreen) as shown on vlc homepage. I tried modifying nearly all options in the program and also tried deleting my ~/.config/vlc directory to no avail.
Does anyone have dome insight on this problem?
Thank you!

Re: VLC fullscreen problem

I usually right click on open video window and select fullscreen, or use the toggle button on player control....

Re: VLC fullscreen problem

Oh, the fullscreen mode *works*, meaning that I can see a video fullscreen. My problem is that while a video is displayed fullscreen, the progress bar, volume and other controls at the bottom, don't appear as it should be (see http://images.videolan.org/vlc/screensh … screen.jpg for an example).

Re: VLC fullscreen problem

Ehm, I normally hate to bump posts in the forum... please, anybody using VLC can tell me if on their PC the fullscreen controls are displayed? At least to know if I'm the only one with this problem...

Re: VLC fullscreen problem

That screen may be from Windows...  I installed VLC on my notebook running XP and that progress bar shows up there without any kind of change to the configuration.

No, there are no controls, I tried both Show a controller in fullscreen and Show interface with mouse. But it doesn't surprise me as many other things are broken here (changing the display mode, integrating video, enabling systray...).

You need to install an RTFM interface.

Re: VLC fullscreen problem

My system is x86-64 and vlc in full screen does not show the control elements...it is true full screen.

Re: VLC fullscreen problem

Ok, I have found a package in AUR called vlc-embeddedvideo and its interface makes MUCH more sense. The video is displayed in the same windows as the controls and the fullscreen controls now appear when I move the mouse. Highly reccomended.

Re: VLC fullscreen problem

I suppose it will be fixed in 0.9b, the patch is simple. Speaking of packages I use vlc-mini as a starting point, and ofcourse recommend it to cut all the crap you don't need.

You need to install an RTFM interface.

Re: VLC fullscreen problem

This is a bug in VLC and QT integration. A rare race condition is corrected in 1.0 (due in ~march). So devs disabled completely the integration. That sucks: if does crash, just uncheck the pref and be it! Now the preference is not consitent.

And from one of the devs (Rémi Denis-Courmont)

It has been fixed in 1.0. There is no way we can backport the fix to 0.9 as it is way too invasive, and depends on 1.0 APIs.
