New lib32-libx11 breaks apps

Today I ran "sudo pacman -Syu" to do some upgrades, and a while later I noticed that wine was having troubles. Running in a console, I see this message.

err:module:load_builtin_dll failed to load .so lib for builtin L"winex11.drv": /opt/lib32/usr/lib/libX11.so.6: undefined symbol: xcb_take_socket

Later, I tried running Google Earth, and got a similar message.

./googleearth-bin: symbol lookup error: /opt/lib32/usr/lib/libX11.so.6: undefined symbol: xcb_take_socket

I've tried running a variety of programs in wine, and I haven't gotten one to work yet. Anyone have a solution to this problem?

Same, need fix immediately or I'll have to resort to Windows for some of my stuff....not kidding.

And if I try to get the PKGBUILD for it with yaourt:

==> Searching Community AUR page for lib32-libx11

Link to subversion repository was not found on AUR page

Happens to me as well.

btw, I THINK this may be my first (or second) post to this forum.  Long long time Linux user, new to Arch.  I've used Gentoo (stage1 way back when it was supported), Slack, Debian, SuSE, Mandrake, Ubuntu, and a few others.... and so far, Arch seems to be exactly what I was looking for.

Anyways, now that I am introduced, I hope this gets fixed.

btw, I THINK this may be my first (or second) post to this forum.  Long long time Linux user, new to Arch.  I've used Gentoo (stage1 way back when it was supported), Slack, Debian, SuSE, Mandrake, Ubuntu, and a few others.... and so far, Arch seems to be exactly what I was looking for.

Anyways, now that I am introduced, I hope this gets fixed. 

Yeah, you came at a bad time lol. Honestly, if this doesn't get fixed within like a week I'm gonna have to go back and install Debian or Ubuntu or something, this is a showstopper for me, even though I still love Arch and everything about it. Well I guess I could install Arch32, but meh

Problem is, I can't find it due to the AUR not showing community 64bit only packages....meh. Edit: whoops double post. Also, I blame this on Friday the 13th

It's not a show stopper for me, as I have fallen in love with virtualbox.  It would certainly take a lot of the load off my system when I need to use DVDShrink and the like, but I have seen many worse breaks than this with Gentoo. (ie no root access, /sbin and /var being inaccessible, and Xorg being inopperable all at once due to one simple bad upgrade slippng through the testers.)  If the Arch userbase community is anything like Gentoo's or Slackware's, the fix will only take a day or so at most.

It all depends on how much you're willing to wait or deal with, I guess.

look for it in /var/cache/pacman/pkg and install via pacman -U

Same problem here... downgrade to older version:
sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/lib32-libx11-1.1.5-2.pkg.tar.gz

If you spend your time more wisely and learn how to use arch you might not be so moody. The more you push and rub archers the wrong way the slower things will happen for you. This is a community based distribution please respect the free work that everyone does in a timely manner.

Yaourt is broken and has been broken, why not try something like aurshell?

downgrading is a feature not a bug, there is a wiki entry describing it in full detail.

Running googleearth from the bin-google-earth package on x86_64:

This is a very annoying bug. I cannot even tolerate it since many softwares (32bits) do not work.

This is caused by an old version of lib32-libxcb. Anyone know who's the maintainer? I can't find the package in AUR.

You can get the package through ABS. Simply change the version number will work.

Thanks, it works! Updated it to 1.1.93-1 and now wine starts again.
