CPU too hot!!

It seems not to be a hardware failure,because the temprature (I feel) is ok in BIOS setup.

I'm running the latest Archlinux +Kdemod (stable),before an update severval days ago which updated many core parts like kernel26, my laptop became hot! As the case before, CPU's temprature is around 49 `C when I surf the Internet, but now, it's 56`C and my keyboard is unbearably hot. I've taken every cpu freq measure mentioned on wiki to cool my CPU(before these measures the temp is 62`C). I've tested that the CPU temprature will rise to above 56`C even if I do nothing.

Anybody have some ideas?

----------------------------------------------------
My CPU is Pentium-dual core T3200, I'm using modules acpi-cpufreq, cpufreq_ondemand and cpufreq_powersave. It seems that my CPU fan runs slower when archlinux is running.

Re: CPU too hot!!

I have made the same experience.
Since kernel 2.6.28.2 cooling seems to be different. Fan spinned on at ~75°C and runs in a high speed without slowing down again or even turning off, producing a constant noise (although temperature goes back to ~31°C). With kernel 2.6.28.1 the fan did not turn off again, too, but it did spin on earlier.

Notebook model is Toshiba Satellite Pro L350, also a Intel Pentium Dual Core T3200.

I think there is now solution at the moment. It seems the hardware is relatively new and not yet supported very well.

Re: CPU too hot!!

I've downgraded my kernel to 2.6.28.1 but it doesn't help.

Re: CPU too hot!!

This can be fixed by appending this kernel/boot parameter:

acpi_osi=Linux
