After uninstalling Pulseaudio, when I right click on a video file and select Open with... VLC, the file cannot be opened. But if I then go to Media->Open File in VLC and select the same file, it plays fine. In the log it's saying there is no such file or directory which is not true.
What could be causing this?

EDIT: Whoops, realized you said uninstall.
Try deleting your VLC config folder (I think it's ~/.vlc) after backing it up.

Hmm.. it's ~/.config/vlc
I just renamed it to vlc-backup and then reconfigured VLC but had exactly the same problem. I'm not sure what is going on.
EDIT: Solved. It was a problem with the path that VLC couldn't parse. It can't handle [], those are respectively B and D in VLC's path
Thanks for your suggestion. I'd also like to know how that project you're working on is going! I'm looking to learn more about encryption ...
EDIT 2: Is it possible for me to mark this thread as solved?

I'm waiting for a more stable 2.6.29 kernel to begin, so I can test ext4 better and test btrfs But I'll probably do it once with an rc, 'cause I'm bored. </offtopic>
