Hello all,
I'm having a problem with my Compaq Armada M700 laptop. I had to turn off acpi using acpi=off on the boot parameters, to enable use of APM. I can read the status of my battery, etc... but when I put my laptop to suspend or standby, it runs stuck on coming back online. I have to turn the laptop off and back on to be able to use it again. I would also like hibernation (suspend to disk).
Anyone got a fix for this problem? It's very annoying I can't put my laptop to standby

I've heard of very, very few working instances of standby in linux. I would like this too, but it may be a while. However, suspend to disk works very well with software suspend, or so i have heard. I havent had enough time to try it out myself

wow, I had not known about this... I'll be looking into it shortly... did i read this correctly - it is already a part of the kernel and just requires a handful of tweaks to work? (hibernate script, plus a boot param, IIRC)

Its a kernel patch to replace the less functional version in the kernel, and then requires those tweaks

hmmm, it looks nice, though I have all this idle disk spindown crap anyway - and I ssh into my laptop from work.... so i'd rather wait until its moved to the kernel.... still a nice package though
