Graphical Corruption

Hi,

Just booted up my laptop and X is screwed, http://img101.imageshack.us/my.php?imag … 029st6.jpg its fine before X starts, graphical bios works and i can boot into runlevel 3 without issues. Any ideas what could have caused this (im guessing it must have been something that got updated when i last Syu'ed)

Its a HP 6735s Laptop, with an ATI Radeon™ HD 3200.

Thanks for any help,

Jack

Re: Graphical Corruption

And what did you upgrade with recent 'pacman -Syu'? Check your pacman.log file. It's probably something with graphic card drivers.

Re: Graphical Corruption

The only things updated where the kernel, lib32-zlib and lib32-libx11. (Same issue happens on fallback kernel)

Re: Graphical Corruption

Maybe I'm not an expert in those matters, but first thing I would do in such situation is downgrading those packaged to previous versions, one by one (hope you've got them in package cache). Maybe one of these causes the problem (kernel?).

Re: Graphical Corruption

$pacman -Si lib32-libx11
Name : lib32-libx11
...
Description : X11 client-side library

That's probably the problem. Check if you have the previous version in /var/cache/pacman/pkg and try to re-install it with "pacman -U lib32-libx11-xx.x-x.pkg.tar.gz"
