[SOLVED] KDE4.2 Device Notifier does not mount USB drives

The KDE device notifier plasmoid doesn't mount USB drives. It shows them after insertion, but when I select "open with Dolphin", then Dolphin opens the home directory and the USB drive stays unmounted.

This happens with both the regular device notifier and the automount version.

It also definitely worked in KDE 4.1.

Any ideas?

Well, that sort of works: I can now mount/unmount as a regular user via the terminal, but the device notifier still refuses to do it.

Also I'd really like to know what caused this.

maybe take a look alt hal policy, here in wiki, http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HAL#Policies , i had same troubles, if you klick on the device in the device list on the left  than there is an error messages quoted at the bottom of the window, just look for that error in the wiki

The problem was the same as the one reported here:

http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=59986

and adding ck-launch-session to .xinitrc solved it.
