Grub Error 17 from USB boot

im trying to boot from usb and i cant get it to work.. any help?

im using flashnul and core.img from 2008-06

i run the following commands as administrator in the windows command prompt:

C:\flashnul> flashnul.exe E: -L C:\core.img

and then i get output saying the image write passed and didnt fail. when i plug it into my other laptop and boot from it i get :

GRUB Loading stage1.5.

GRUB loading, please wait...
Error 17

ive also tried running :

C:\flashnul> flashnul.exe 1 -L C:\core.img

Error 17 means the ID for the USB device was different in the BIOS than is presently in the usb drive's ID.

Perhaps a bit more confusing when two computers are encountered!!
