I'm very sorry if this is not the place for such topic
Do you use the original pacman or modifications like pacman-color/yaourt/tupac/something-else?
I personally use pacman, thinking of trying yaourt maybe.

I use yaourt. It's not exactly what I want (eg lack of --root and --config options, which pacman has), but I find it a very handy utility.

I use yaourt to check on the status of AUR packages that I have installed, or to search for new stuff, and pacman for all operations. I keep local build directories of anything that I want so future upgrades are simple, and so I can study the package information to make sure that it's not malware. Seriously, who needs viruses when you have users that blindly install software from potentially untrustworthy packagers?

Yaourt combined with Powerpill.

Pacman most of the time and Yaourt for AUR.

pacman for packages in the repos, a custom thrown together python script I'm cooking up for the aur/abs.

This is not the place, I guess you knew that . Why not just dump your burning question in Linux Discussion instead of iin Pacman Upgrades & Issues? You know this isn't an 'issue'...

I just use pacman. I only use one package from unsupported though.

I use pacman with the pacbuilder-svn app to build all packages/updates from source using the ABS/AUR repositories.

I only use pacman. In the past I've experimented with yaourt but never really liked it. I also tried powerpill but found that it was not useful often enough to keep around, because most of my pacman downloads are tiny.
EDIT: I'm such a flip-flop. I am now using both yaourt and powerpill again, in combination with a custom script found here.

@B well yea you right, deep inside myself I knew its not the place, but
Issues related to package upgrades. Also the place for discussion about pacman in general.
Pretty changed my mind, well thanks for moving the topic to the right place
I think I switched to yaourt, pretty handy

slightly OT, but isn't putting:
XferCommand = /usr/bin/aria2c -s 10 -m 2 -d / -o %o %u
to /etc/pacman.conf the same as using powerpill?

I alias pacman to pacman-color, and I've configured yaourt to use pacman-color.

There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

Nope.
Using that command splits even small packages which incurs overhead without gaining any real speed, plus all packages are still downloaded sequentially instead of simultaneously.

I use yaourt.
Since I am a lazy typer, I aliased it to PM. So even if I want to return to pacman-color there is no need to change habits.
To know or not to know ...
... the questions remain forever.
