I've created a giant metalink file to all the iso's/img's on all the mirrors + the torrents. I have nowhere to host it though, and I'd rather not send it to everyone who wants it. Would anyone care to host it? (7.5K gzipped or 176K normal)

The torrents allready include 53 webseed links to the mirrors.

All that work for nothing... bummer. Still, my metalink file does have way more than 53 mirrors, and it's just a single file for all the install images. So if anyone wants to see it, it's still at least somewhat useful.

Well not to ruin your excitement but Fedora has had ext4 support atleast from the Release 10, and Fedora 9 did include ext4 support in the installer i think.

Kernel 2.6.28 with stable ext4 was released one month after the fedora10 release....

Is hwdetect removed from this release? My friend had nothing listed under modules.

I downloaded the iso and burnt it. The CD is not booting in one of the Laptop (Acer 291Lci). In the previous image also I got the same problem. The process struck at grub> and the commands to trouble shoot like root etc gave only error messages. In the bug reports I found one bug was reported (FS#6292) for the 0.8 ISO. Any help pl?

1. Have you checked the checksum?
2. There is a fallback-option with isolinux instead of grub. Some hardware won't boor with grub. Try the isolinux-version...

Hello zeniord, checksum part is ok. I will try the second option and come back.

archlinux-2009.02-ftp-i686-isolinux.iso worked fine. The Acer 291 Lci laptop is like our saying "New Toddy, old earthen pot" . Thanks to Developers and the Community.

This one got me for a minute since my last installation had plenty of modules, but I noticed everthing still loading and working fine so I assumed that was the case.

Can anyone boot his shiny new Arch installation on ext4 using the 2009.02 installation CD?
I can't- it just quits mumbling about not being able to mount the root partition.
Using any other filesystem for root, there are no problems.
I have filed a bug report for that, but I cannnot see it- probably wiped by someone.

For me it works fine
We don't just wipe tickets for fun.. did you file it under the correct project? note that when you're browsing for example the "Arch Linux" project you cannot see "Release Engineering" tickets. I was confused about that the first time I used flyspray

Did you overwrite your previous grub installation? If not, give that a try, because grub requires a patch for ext4 support which was only added to the Arch package relatively recently.

make sure you have added the rootfstype=ext4 to your menu.lst - like so

root (hd0,5)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sda6 ro rootfstype=ext4 iommu=noaperture
initrd /boot/kernel26.img

I have had no problems with this cd

I had to run a first fsck on the root partition from the installer system before I could boot.

Smooth install via USB image.

Long period of added packages but performs nicely so far.

Ahhh... I had it like that, but I had made a stupid mistake: I'm using a separate /boot partition, so I should change root (hd0,5) to root (hd0,4)
After editing so, it works fine...
