[Solved]Pacman update failure: "Transient Resolver Failure"

Hey all, I'm trying out Arch on Virtual Box before I actually install it to an HDD.

I have it installed but, if i run any pacman commands I get this:

My internet connection is working...since I can ping google and ifconfig has no errors...

Any ideas?

Use the search function. This has been covered a bunch of times. If you can't find a solution, then come back to this thread.

Re: [Solved]Pacman update failure: "Transient Resolver Failure"

Not sure what combinations of commands/file modifications I did...but it's working now....

Thanks anyway.

btw, I did use the search function first.  I went through quite a few threads until I got frustrated and posted here.

So you've made it. Now just add [SOLVED] in the thread's subject to make other users lives easier.

The fact it has been covered extensively usually means there are plenty of solutions. Just because you get a lot of results that doesn't excuse you from trying them smile.

You really want to fix your mirrorlist file btw - and just keep one mirror uncommented instead of trying them all.

Re: [Solved]Pacman update failure: "Transient Resolver Failure"

I'm actually having this problem but a bit different. I've already searched, read a few threads but I think my problem is different or missed the thread with the solution to my own problem.

The thing is, when I'm logged in as root, network works, pacman works. When I'm logged in as a normal user, network works but pacman doesn't. I use "sudo pacman -Sy", for instance, and I get the error as the OP.

Suggestions?

Yes. Create a thread of your own and post the exact error. No need to hijack topics.

Closing time!
