Hi everyone
Is it intended that Thunar only displays changes on the Filesystem after i clicked "Refresh". For example if I delete a file via command line Thunar still displays it till i hit refresh.... this isn't really how a filemanger should work... so did I miss something or what?
Thanks

Yes that is correct default behaviour. You need to install fam (or gamin?) which are programs that monitor the file system and detect changes. If one of these are running I believe Thunar will use them to update folders automatically.

Yep.. that's how thunar works default. Nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the reply!
I installed and started fam - and yes it works - BUT after a small check (touch file and rm file) all thunar instances are now frozen...
So does anybody know another lightweight filemanger besides thunar and xfe?

Thats a known problem it seems ... race condition between threads (when unhidding and hiding ... hidden files) (in my experience fam seems to hang a lot too, I have used ubuntu and the gnone file manager before and now I use gamin + thunar in arch (trying to change to pcmanfm + gamin due to race condition problem)) and fam seem to hang using 100% cpu sometimes (well quite often ... randomly). Lately pcmanfm + gamin seem to have a few file change updates problems (I've experienced it myself) check here http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=65307

Stripped gamin 0.1.10 and thunar 0.9.99.1 (svn) builds solved these anoyances for me:
gamin 0.1.10
--disable-static --disable-docs --disable-gtk-doc --disable-inotify --disable-dnotify --disable-kqueue --disable-hurd_mach_notify --with-threads --without-html-dir --without-python
thunar 0.9.99.1
--disable-static --disable-gnome-thumbnailers --enable-debug=no --disable-apr-plugin --disable-exif --disable-sbr-plugin --disable-pcre --disable-tpa-plugin --disable-wallpaper-plugin --without-x --without-locales-dir --without-html-dir
Not sure what the root cause(s) was, but removed as much as I could in an attempt to circumvent thunar/pcmanfm/gamin annoyances (fam would hang thunar every so often, slow deletes and updates with pcmanfm + gamin from repos). Seems to have worked so far for both thunar and pcmanfm...

***Sorry everyone. I don't mean to hi-jack***
adamlau,
Will you please repost your gamin info in the following thread? I have a question to ask you, as well I want the pcmanfm devs to see it. Thanks.
