Kernel Config for Fastest Boot

I would have thought that compiling drivers statically in the kernel would result in a faster boot time than if those drivers were modular. However I have found a few pages suggesting that this is not necessarily the case. Can anyone suggest the best way drivers should be compiled if I am after the fastest boot time.

One more question: With the exception of PCIE_ASPM are there any other config options I can enable (which are not already enabled in the stock Arch config) to improve power management?

Thanks,
Leo

Re: Kernel Config for Fastest Boot

You probably won't get any difference in boot time if you compile the kernel or use the stock kernel. Leaving the modules out of the kernel is probably a good idea, it's just cleaner and you won't notice any speed difference. There are a few topics about speeding up the boot process.
