Change Monitor

Hi there, smile

I have a particular need. I am running arch on my laptop HP Pavilion dv6000. I would like to give a presentation in my laptop. Since, this would need dual-monitor support, I am kind of flabbergasted.

I have installed my video card (nvidia) and by running nvidia-settings on root, I can manipulate my X as I want.

However, I want my runlevel 3 to be presented on the external monitor. mad
Is this possible under linux ?
If yes, Could you please let me know how to do it ?

Re: Change Monitor

You mean you want to have a console on the external monitor? I think that depends on whether your laptop
supports that. For me it just works if I plugin the external monitor before I turn on my laptop, on both my
Lenovo ThinkPad and my Acer Travelmate. If it doesn't work for you, try looking at your BIOS settings, a lot
of laptops I've come across have a "Primary Monitor" setting (or similar) that lets you use your external
output as your primary one. If you're talking about X though, just take a look a xrandr.

Re: Change Monitor

Have you tried using Fn+F4? I also have a dv6000 and that works fine. (Press once for external output only, again for LCD and external, and a third time for LCD only)
