is there a way to repair corrupted rar files?

i am trying to open a password protected rar file howerver the archive is corrupted.  i have tried unrar, file-roller, xarchiver and ark.  however they all have different messages indicating something is wrong with the file.

is there a program that can identify the problem or try to recover it?

thanks

Try full rar.
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=20760
Non-free trial (time-limited) version, i think.

Usage: rar <command> -<switch 1> -<switch N> <archive> <files...>
               <@listfiles...> <path_to_extract\>

<Commands>
...
  r Repair archive
...

Re: is there a way to repair corrupted rar files?

thanks...looks like i have CRC failure, so the file cannot be recovered.

Building fixed.lostseason5ep5.rar
Scanning...
Enter password (will not be echoed) for foo.rar:

"@ִڏa;=]464ܶ8`7٧_k^4ah\S~jvwpܱIO$ZLXK<6RCS)ئ)gs'H}`յx_7y͞6kiOcKNDjSyJ}uXvDcr7|>JXS#Yx 뭗3 ݊ijs#>}dJS+6[%ChON\*HįZX+C$WUJ΋dvMU4j:/oIsNEL#b'MH``ȿt_1_o4Gҳ5pSĀ؆opEWO9M+Փ0Idok_0"|F- ??? - the file header is corrupt
Encrypted file: CRC failed in foo.rar

Re: is there a way to repair corrupted rar files?

The unrar part is free and has no time limits or nags I think, rar does have some limitations, nags and the likes.
Recovering a damaged file is hard even if there is no password .... you can also try the option to keep broken files and try to salvage anything from the extracted file.
Mind you that the CRC _will fail_ if you input the wrong password.
