Dictionaries in open office 3[SOLVED]

I just installed open office 3 and am having problems with spell check. Spell check doesn't pick up any mistakes and a dictionary doesn't appear to be selected.
Any suggestions?

I think I followed the instructions there, but it still doesn't work.

I took the file /opt/openoffice/share/extensions/install/dict-en.oxt and added it to the extension manager.

What languages does it say in the bottom middle of writer?  I had to get an en_AU extension from the openoffice web site.  I assume it is the same with en_CA.

Re: Dictionaries in open office 3[SOLVED]

I just got this working for a UK dictionary but found you need to restart office for the new extension to start working. I had a spreadsheet open on a different desktop so closing writer down and just restarting that didn't do anything.
