The first link works for me
[27 February 2009 by The Xfce Development Team]
After more than two years of development, Xfce 4.6.0 has just been released.

@JawsThemeSwimming428: Somehow you got redirected to older link. Notice the difference on the last 2 digits on the link you posted and mine. [20 <--> 21]
Anyway, I'm so glad it arrived. It was worth the wait.

Fantastic. I've been looking forward to this. Can't wait 'till it makes it into the Arch repos .

Awesome! I wonder if there are any changes in resource usage. In the visual tour, they mention they have re-written the clock plugin to use less resources.

looks good. Not for me though.

It's in testing, isn't it?

The RC is.

Yes, yes, yes
Hope to see it in repos soon
Some applications are WYSIWYG, and some are WYSIWTF.

I wonder if the screen still becomes white when the shut down menu comes up. This is probably the most annoying XFCE feature.
There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

This pleases me.

issues I had with the RC in testing: the mixer applet would die for weird reasons, the keyboard layout switcher did not work. I hope those guys are fixed in 4.6 :-D

Sweet it's uploaded to the main repos, now what's left is to wait for the repos to sync and we are on our way!
Thank you Arch devs!

I bit wary of upgrading. Have used 4.4 for years now.
Can anybody report the upgrade went smooth?

It went fine for me so far on my 64 bit install.
Pacman of course is going to ask you to remove xfce-mcs-plugins, xfce-mcs-manager, and libxfce4mcs, in order to make way for the new xfconf and xfce4-settngs manager, that we yearn for.
It just requires reconfiguring the settings again, if you want to return the appearance back the way you had it.

Couple things:
There doesn't seem to be any way to hide the icons on the desktop, even with icons set to "none."
If I wanted icons, running conky hides them. Sort of fixes problem number one, but I'd love to be able to have both at the same time if I wanted.
If I use my mouse scroll wheel to switch desktops conky doesn't show up again until I actually move my pointer.

@will1911a1: For the first one, I had that weird issue too, but I found a way.
What I did was randomly selecting the icon type to "File/launcher icons" and then going back to "None." This actually worked and all the icons on the desktop disappeared without checking off the Default Icons.
edit: btw, is there a way to adjust the shadow setting in compositing? It's actually wider then normal by default.

Are there any problems with the i686 version? x86_64 already has 4.6 in the repos, i686 not. Weird...

Man, I'm not a build bot
Will do i686 packages later tonight and then some updates and bugfixes to the goodies and plugins. Stay patient.
