Hi... REALLY like fdm...
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=900479
Thing is there's a lot of nice things about 1.6 and it's 1.4.1 that's available via pacman.
i'd like pacman to be aware of it and I've read in AUR notes that there's some tweaks needed etc. etc.
Just reformatted and am going ultra-light. Don't wanna mess up things if possible.
So, Can anyone tell me what to do to do it right? 'Exactly' would be super nice.
I have a bit of experience with ABS and also have so far done a successful downgrade of my kernel some weeks back.
Not up on yet some of the needed skills though think.
thanks!

fdm 1.6 needs "make -j1", rather than just "make", to compile.

Thanks brebs!
Thing is... i'm not sure what the process would be for doing what pacman does with a local package.
1) I download the package from sourceforge.
2) I put the tar.gz in the pacman/local folder?
3) I edit or add a package file so it builds according to what's best for ARCH as in, just like it would if I were to use pacman with the old fdm 1.4.1 version ?
um, you see... so far looking at the above I'm certain there's many ways for me to get the install wrong.
still thinking here. :--)

Look at the wiki article for ABS.

Thanks Alan...
I will!
I've had an amazing time learing dozens of new skills these past few weeks.
I guess that by using ABS, which I already have setup and working thanks to needing dwm compile ability etc.
I can do that ABS part ...I think...
though in AUR there's mention Re: out of date package... that a few things in the pkgbuild need to be considered or altered.
Maybe I'll wait for 1.6 to git the repos...
I appreciate the comments. Always motivating.

I can now use ABS well enough.
Noticed the bug repor and now that tdb has just been updated, and, I assume the bug is gone... I'm wondering:
- should I wait for new version 1.6 to show up?
- If anyone has a PKGBUILD for 1.6 that will work just lke it will when the package is updated to 1.6 and in AUR.
I think that if I were to just download the package and install I'd not only lose the pacman sync ability (wouldn't I?) and that also the locations for the files would be a bit off, and then there's that tip I got (thanks!) about "make -j1".
hmmm... really need the 1.6 bug fixes.
Of course, there's lots else to do.... and I'm very patient...! hehehe
Just loving mutt and looking forward to fdm 1.6
um, obviously!
