I have a Brother 4040-CN and am looking to install the drivers for it. For better or worse brother does support Linux (:D hooray for linux support!). Unfortunately they only seem to offer the drivers in .RPM and .DEB packages, which again, for better or worse isn't supported in Arch out of the box (at least to the best of my knowledge) and thus I'm kind of stuck.
I know about using .RPMs through alien on .DEB using systems, but I don't know what to do in this case.
Here's the drivers in question http://solutions.brother.com/linux/en_u … #HL-4040CN
If anyone has any previous experience or pretty much anything would be helpful.
Thanks!
EDIT: fixed spelling errors, finally got spell checking working on opera!

I feel stupid
Installed CUPS and foomatic drivers and used CUPS to set it up. Almost no fuss (had to go through localhost:631 because printer configuration kept saying I didn't have permission).
AFTER I spent time trying to get the brother drivers working...
Thanks for the help on extracting those drivers though. Turns out there is no kind of documentation inside it so I was going to be kind of lost if this hadn't worked.
