How did you have them set up? What changed? Are you running a DE? Information is good.

I'm running GNOME.
Don't really know what you mean by the other things.
It's just, when I had my old install, they worked. Reinstalled, they don't.
I have audio working.

I don't use Gnome, but I know that there's an easy way to bind keys to actions. Is this something that you set up before, or did it "just work"?

Tell the truth, I don't remember.
I don't think I did anything special, so I'd guess it "just worked."

On a laptop that I work on, I set up the following keys for volume up and down, and toggle mute. This is for ALSA:
XF86AudioRaiseVolume: amixer sset 'Master' 1+ -q
XF86AudioLowerVolume: amixer sset 'Master' 1- -q
XF86AudioMedia: amixer sset 'Master' toggle -q
This is for an older version of xorg-server, so I had to use .Xmodmap to define the keys. They're already defined in the newer xorg-server.

I found a option for it in Keyboard Shortcuts.
Just redefined them. It works now.
