Hello, yesterday, I noticed that the repos still did not have Xfce 4.6.0 so I downloaded the installer from xfce.org and installed it. I ran #"pacman -Syu" today and it updated my Xfce 4 to 4.6. So now I have the Xfce4 that Pacman installed and the one I installed with the installer. How would I remove the one that pacman isn't managing?

Does the installer from the XFCE website have an uninstall option? Where was it installed to (i.e. did you need to force the xfce installation in pacman).

No (no)

I ran ./[installer] --help and it didn't mention removal or anything along those lines.

i'm wondering why the hell did you do that . we had xfce 4.6 rc
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Allan's second question is a good one. Where in the directory tree was it installed? /usr, /usr/local, /opt?
Offline
Didn't notice the second one outside parentheses, checking now . . .

/usr/local
Should I just remove every xfce4 directory under there?

That's beautiful. It couldn't be in a better place. Yes, removing the folder is fine. It may create some issues with your XFCE config files, but I kind of doubt it.

Okay, the /usr/local subdirs are riddled with xfce4 items. How would I remove everything with "xfce4" in the file name or directory name in /usr/local.

I'm not a scripting Guru, and haven't tested it, but something like this as root may work:
find /usr/local -iname "*xfce*" -exec rm -rf {} \;
Offline
It removed them, but the packages under the "xfce4" group are not 4.6.

you can wait your preffered mirror to sync or you can select another one. i'm using
Server = http://mir.archlinux.fr/$repo/os/x86_64
modify x86_64 with i686 if is the case

Read the instructions that come with the installer, if not, ask on the XFCE forum.
