KDE 4.2 effects with RadeonHD driver
Hi,
I have a problem, that I can't get to work desktop effects with RadeonHD driver and Radeon HD 4850 card. It works with XRender but not with OpenGL (which is better). I read ATI page on wiki, nothing helped. Please post successful xorg.configs if any.

AFAIK radeonhd does not have 3D support for R600/R700 chipsets (Radeon HD 2/3/4xxx) yet.

And what about xf86-video-ati??
Am I forced to use catalyst?
EDIT: Using catalyst I try to start glxgears, but I get X error BadRequest. Is it known problem?

Only catalyst supports 3D on your card unfortunately.

Since the r600/r700 branch in xf86-video-ati has been merged into "main", try xf86-video-ati-git from AUR.
