lxpanel, lxappearance, etc.

I'm new around here and after playing with an lxde setup I'm about to drop it in favor of toying with a straight openbox setup...but before I do I was thinking of creating an lxpanel (and maybe lxappearance) wiki page for the various tips I've compiled.

I've found that lx(anything) lacks a bit of documentation and having it here would be nice.

That being said, I'm kind of surprised it doesn't exist yet.

So I bring it here, is there a reason I shouldn't create an lxpanel wiki?  OR is it more that no one's bothered yet?

As for what I'd put up there, basics like adding custom shortcuts, icons, etc.  How to adjust/set the clock and it's format.

I know these things can all be tracked down and are similar to settings for openbox etc.  but as a new arch/lxde user it would have been nice to have them all in one place.

Ok, thoughts?

Add them. Nobody has bothered yet I guess. I'm sure it would be appreciated. Just structure it like other desktop enviroment wiki pages that we have.

Would be cool if you did it! I'll definite look over it, maybe I'll learn something new or could add something. Really start loving LXDE these days, but of course improval is always appreciated.

Re: lxpanel, lxappearance, etc.

So, would it be better to create subdirectories of the LXDE entry for lxpanel etc. or should they have their own pages?

I just want to keep things uniform and since I'm still new around here I'm not quite sure of wiki expectations.

Re: lxpanel, lxappearance, etc.

Personally I would put everything on one page, at least to start out with.

Expanding this page is preferable IMHO .

Re: lxpanel, lxappearance, etc.

cool, I planned on doing it this weekend but have been enlisted to help a family member's ailing xp box...oi.  I've never seen one quite this bad.

Anyway, I'll still get to it but it may be a few more days yet.

Thanks for the input, I'm really liking this community.

Re: lxpanel, lxappearance, etc.

finally got to it today.

Everything I added is under the "tips" section.
- Autostart programs
- Digital Clock Applests Settings
- Adding location and program launchers to the launcher applet
- lxpanel icons (defaults and how to change/customize them)

Please feel free to criticize or add stuff (obviously)
