Never. See the key between rightshift, CR and CTRL? No key is supposed to be there, IMNSHO.

I'd suggest you simply buy the penguin caps for (IIRC) ridiculuos $1.50 per piece and slam those into your favourite keyboard. wink

i would have to agree with gyroplast there... that's the first time ive seen the backslash located there on a keyboard.  Hell, I can't even stand the full size enter keys like that one.

I agree as well, the backslash is not supposed to be there, I hate using keyboards that do that, makes things a bit confusing if you are using what is for the most part a STANDARD keyboard, rather than this funkified way.

Ok, ...Ok.  I got excited.  I see your point.  Supposedly it has 'mechanical' key-posts which make it feel like the old XT IBM keyboards with the solid click-click stuff.  Dunno if that is desirable(?).

Would you please suggest some places to buy the replacement keycaps and also post your favorite keyboards?

Thanx.

Re: LINUX KEYBOARDS !!! (with penguin keys)

I like the old style keyboards, nothing like the old style clicking when you type.  I wouldn't mind knowing a few sites to get those keys myself, wouldn't mind replacing my windows key with a penguin key.

Re: LINUX KEYBOARDS !!! (with penguin keys)

i personally like low travel keys, i.e. 1-3mm.  Noise really doesnt matter to me, just as long as the keys dont travel much and the tension is low.  I also love low profile keys (like laptop-type keys)... but that's just my personal keyboard preference.. i still have yet to find my perfect keyboard.

I thought about getting that gesturepad keyboard a while ago, but I have no clue how compatable it would be with Linux (main question being is it hardware or software?)

Re: LINUX KEYBOARDS !!! (with penguin keys)

You'd probably have to add the keys like a windows key, or at least thats what it appears anyway.  I grew up on old computers from the commodore 64 to a 286 and up from there, so its kind of a return to the olden days for me.  I mainly like the feel of an old keyboard, I don't really like laptop keys much.  I hate those natural keyboards mycrowsoft makes, ick.  There really aren't any totally perfect keyboards out there.  I wish someone would force people to start using devorak, so we can quit using a keyboard layout designed to help prevent typewriters from breaking because people would type too fast otherwise.

dvorak represent... took me a while to get it working with the arch install (hard typing commands in qwerty after spending a long time with dvorak)
