I had installed nvidia 180.35 from the testing repo, now I cannot find it, is it removed?

It was downgraded because it was giving too much problems. About 50% of the users can reproduce the problems with this driver. The nvnews forum also lists problems with this driver, the recommendation on that forum is to downgrade to the version we have in testing right now. Nvidia is aware of the problems, so it's better to skip 180.35 for now.

Whole bunch of signoffs on it in mailing list. xD

i used to be the kind of guy who wanted the latest software, but, I trust the judgement of the devs
Newer is almost always better, but only in OSS.

Just so everyone is clear on this, it's a major upstream bug. Huge numbers of people can't do things like log out. You can find a rather extensive thread at nVidia about this.
With that being said, the newer one works for me, so I reinstalled it and put it in IgnorePKG.

Anyone got a copy of 180.35 nvidia and nvidia-utils for x86_64 so I can test?
EDIT: Durr... just use the old PKGBUILD from the site.

Yes, it works fine for most, but for a lot of others it just doesn't.

nvidia just released 180.37
I'd personally like to see it in Arch (along with a more recent mplayer) to take advantage of the improved hardware decoding

play with the aur packages.. at least for the nvidia, all i did was set up nvidia-beta nvidia-utils-beta with the higher version number, update the md5sum, and rebuild.
mplayer-svn should auto-detect the vdpau stuff once you update to the beta driver. and it does work (i've tested it) but for unrelated reasons i cant use it (vdpau stuff works, accelerates video, but for whatever reason mplayer and oss cant get to agree on sending ac3 audio to my receiver in passthrough mode)
currently i'm using nvidia/nvidia-utils 180.37, mplayer-svn
