[SOLVED]vlc subtitle problem

Hey there!
I've searched on the forum, but i didnt fint anything related to this problem, but im sorry if there are some posts and i didnt see.
My problem is that when i load a subtitle (str) file in VLC the program quits after the first appearance of the subtitle. I tryed to change the encodings, to change the text rendering module, but i couldnt resolve this problem.
The subtitles i tryed with, are hungarian witch needs eastern/central european encodings..
The subtitles worked fine with mplayer, but i prefer vlc smile

If i'm not wrong this problem appeared first after a system upgrade few weeks ago.. Maybe there is missing something.. dunno..
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks very much!

With respect,
dvl

Xlib: extension "Generic Event Extension" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "Generic Event Extension" missing on display ":0.0".

Re: [SOLVED]vlc subtitle problem

Indeed a bug
a workaround is to disable "formatted subtitles"

Re: [SOLVED]vlc subtitle problem

I've solved the problem with a solution from this link you've posted:
http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php … 4&p=183891

I have disabled the "Formatted Subtitles" option in the VLC options:
Preferences > (Show all settings) > Input/codecs > Other codecs > Subtitles
and it solved this segmentation problem.

Thanks very much for the help!
