I just upgrade to 4.2.1 and the plasmoid are driving me crazy.
Placement of these plasmoid was always tricky but I always given a chance to kde4. But now its driving me crazy. It is a pain to place them, and now there is one folderview which does not care where I put it: it just goes back to where it was!
See this screenshot:

Look at the top left corner: two folder views are on top of each other.
Anyone else got this weird thing? How can I correct this??
Thanx

Someone at the KDE forum had a problem like this and their solution was to delete the plasmarc file (.kde4/share/config/plasmarc), log out and back in. I assume you'll have to reposition everything but hopefully it will stay where you put it!

Ok thanx
I was affraid this was the only solution... Too many times I had to do this... I love KDE but then this is a pain :S

really bad behaviour for a bugfix upgrade, it has to be said.

I've had kde 4.x crash on me so many times and revert to the standard (which I have heavily modified) that every time I've made a change I make a backup copy of all plasma* files in ~/.kde4/share/config - since I started doing it, however, kde has proven stable
Either that or I've become more patient when I think things take too long (I've stopped hitting ctrl alt backspace).

Again, with all plasma problems, I had to delete plasmarc and restart placing all plasmoids to where they were... :S

It's not a real solution, but it helped me...
when you refer to "placing all plasmoid" are you complaining because it's almost impossible to place them regurarly without a grid snapping of sort (I think I have OCD, too :-P)? If that's the case, you can move yout plasmoids with your keyboard instead of your mouse. If you press ALT+F12 your arrow keys will act as a mouse and allow a much more easy way to place your plasmoids around.

Yes I was in part talking about that... Adding them again, setting all these folder-view...
And then, there is also the strange behaviour of the placement. It reacts in a weird way, as you stated.
Its a good idea to use the arrows to control the mouse and thus the placement I'll try it next time.
