I installed KDE 4.2.0 for Arch yesterday, but running pacman -Syu requests to download several KDE 4.2.1-1 packages. I am a bit concerned about this because I can find no mention of KDE 4.2.1 being officially released as stable. Would this indicate that I have inadvertently added the testing or unstable repos, or is there some other reason?

In the kde schedule, the 4.2.1 version was due to the 25th, so the arch update was correct

Is there any changelog available for 4.2.1? Could not find anything because it is not released officially yet.

Or just look at the svn repo: http://websvn.kde.org/*checkout*/trunk/ … ion=932774 :-)

Running it now. It works, however I am unable to log out of the system! I need to sudo reboot everytime. Log off, restart, shut down.. non of them works for me. Also I've had a few crashes after upgrade, might be coincidental though.
Oh, and http://www.kde.org/announcements/change … o4_2_1.php.

Hi Toon,
I have noticed that the new release comes with a quite restrictive configuration. Please, check the file /usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc and you'll know what I'm talking about. Besides, I think either developers or packagers didn't realize about such changes on this file. I figure out they should review it again.
I hope it helps! :-)

I see a big change there yes! I tried reverting to my old one (4.2.0) and restarted X, however the problem still remains.
If I turn off "previous session" in the session-manager (switching to new session each login) logging out work. I'll leave it at that untill atleast 4.2.1 is officially out if nothing else pops up.

Thanks for that. However after the recent update it Just Works (tm) without any changes
Next step: Qt4.5. KDE4.2 really does feel unresponsive compared to 3.5. Hopefully Qt4.5 will make the difference smaller
